Matrix A

How the Matrix Calculator works

This calculator supports 2×2, 3×3, and 4×4 matrices. The determinant is found using cofactor expansion, the transpose swaps rows and columns, the adjoint is the transpose of the cofactor matrix, and the inverse is calculated by dividing the adjoint by the determinant.

det(A) for 2×2 = a·d − b·c
A⁻¹ = adj(A) ÷ det(A)

Note: a matrix only has an inverse if its determinant is not zero.
